A few thoughts while arriving back in London after the Easter break.

UK general election now gaining significant media coverage. Pity the actual election options are pretty crap. Conservatives deserve a run, but Osborne comes across as too in-experienced to take the chancellors boots at this stage in the economic cycle.  Hung Parliament with a Labour/Lib Dem coalition, Vince Cable to get a run with the red briefcase, and the whole show falls down within 2 years. Odds anyone?

• Heathrow still sucks, and Cork smells nicer than London

• Is facebook something my grandchildren will use, two large assumptions there!

• Does having a good work ethic when your young mean you relax when you're older, or a trait until departure. The latter I feel.

Great to see some new employment positions announced in Ireland over the past number of weeks. Haven't seen any stats, looks like a high percentage of customer service/support style roles.

Poor AIB and BOI shareholders, your ride hasn't finished yet.

London still smells, my UK vote will be largely decided by green urban policies, as neither party looks particularly strong on economic policies.

Just arriving in Waterloo, a strange place where people pretend to be busy.

I've been exploring the benefits of Twitter lists over the past week to see what value they provide. Personally I have no real need to create lists. Categorising offers little value over my stream. I've been creating private lists (groups) on tweetdeck for sometime now and they are rarely used.

So the buck is then passed onto people intent on creating lists that they believe offer value. They are being formed by people creating them without tweeters permission or alternatively by you actually submitting your profile to be included in a list. Types include.

Nick Kallen the list project leader states

"lists have the potential to be an important new discovery mechanism for great tweets and accounts. We started working on this feature because of the frequent requests we received from people who were looking for a better way to organize information on Twitter"

Some significant value and structure may start to emerge with the lists api

So list creators be they stupid or clever are now on the prowl, and we must begin to look at lists of lists, or do we?

Microsoft's hotmail has had what's seems like a serious security breach for its email users. The hack or phishing scheme as detailed on Neowin states that the passwords for names A through to B (assuming surnames) were posted to pastebin the coder debugging site. Ooops!, so which of the big mail providers can we trust for security and reliability, let the password changing begin.
